Stephen King, 2019 (Hodder & Stoughton)
Capturing some of the style and feels of his earlier works, King weaves a tale of ‘kids-with-special-talents’ butting heads with the secret facility that kidnapped them. The premise isn’t terribly original, given that almost every streaming service seems to have its own take on this sort of thing these days, but the plot plays out well and the story builds to a satisfying conclusion. Not vintage King, but not a million miles away and certainly worth a read. 7/10 (CB)
Other weird books on the radar at the moment include the classic Journey To The Centre Of The Earth by Jules Verne (1864) and Sum: Tales From The Afterlife by David Eagleman (2010).
